I think you’re already welcoming back the 4 year old child in you. How else would you be able to enjoy being with your 4 year old granddaughters so much!

That pure. innocent heart is still in you, but every one else gets to see it, even if you can't

Thanks, Switter , for that comment. I need to broaden my attention, unload some of the adult in me, and make room for that little kid. If the two little granddaughters are any indication, I would really like to find her again.

Answers? Hah!

But I will suggest that maybe it's only an older you who could hold this perspective. You may not find that younger self, but you can live on the bridge between now and then. And maybe it's your job to be their light/guardrail/map that they didn't realize they needed.

Or some other deep and meaningful metaphor!

You're already welcoming that 4-year old you. She's been on every play experience you've shared with these two. What a gift.

She has been! The question is, can she stick around and play with me even when they go to school? 😂

Get down on the floor and play kitty with them. sometimes I was the dog chasing them…all on our knees! I don’t recall thinking Of my own young self, but found it easy to just be in their world. Same as three more came along… but no more on my knees! ☺️ I found large cardboard boxes to build playhouses and tunnels with and yes, more crawling and pretending. As they approach 10-11/ when they are ready… I took each on a week long trip

Of their choosing. You may not find 4 year old you, but you will find that youthfulness and playfulness become part of you …even with peers. It’s like a time travel thing thru the wardrobe that rubs off on you! Never ever lose the sparkle, even if grandsons come along! Today they are all young adults and my best of friends. Great piece and the cutest little girls, Gracie! You too… I can see resemblance! You’re already a fun-loving, go-to grandma, I can tell!☺️🥰🫶

You’re still always creating and curious, just like you were then, and they are now.

I think you're right, Bruce. I know I was a curious little kid , forever wondering about stuff in my world. And I delight in the unending stream of 'whys' that come from these two small kids!
