I read a novel last week that momentarily gave me a glance at reality. In the first sentence of the book, a young mother of four literally drops dead on her kitchen floor (brain aneurysm). No one saw that coming. She was thirty something years old, her children ranged from 14 to four years old. Her husband was a self employed plumber. They live in a small house in a small town where everyone knows everyone. She’s making pancakes in a busy kitchen and Boom! It’s all over for her.
That can be true for any of us. In fact I have known three people who died relatively early and quite suddenly from a brain aneurysm. The book was a reminder. Life is short. Blah blah blah but really. Life is short. Love the ones you’re with. Stay focused on what matters. Embrace beauty while you can. Let life be messy and stay open to surprises. Did I mention? Love the people you’re with?
That would include all of humanity.

Here’s a link to my brief 4/5 star review of the book: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/6314317326
It’s the old cliche: plan for the future, but live in the present and enjoy and find beauty, love, and gratitude in the present. That’s not the words of the cliche, but I think that’s somewhat the message?
What I also wanted to say: thanks a lot--one more thing to worry about!!
