September is one of my favorite months (along with August and October) and I always enjoy the days no matter if they're hot. It's because even with heat, the light is changing. The sun no longer beats so unmercifully.
I do appreciate the change in the light too. Around here, October can be electrifying with the occasional heat spell and the long slanted light at the end of the day. September just seems soft and gracious. Thanks for reading and commenting.
Yes! You are right on the tomatoes. In fact, September seems to be the best time here for bringing the tomatoes in. The dahlias in the neighborhood are starting to fade but they are still hanging in there. Roses too!
Funny, but I do miss the world of education. Those middle school people and all the fall stuff were always a pleasure for me. I've traded in middle school people for three year olds though!
September has not always been one of my favorite months but the older I get, the more I welcome it. As the years go by, I more and more appreciate Virginia Woolf’s comment: “All the months are crude experiments, out of which the perfect September is made.”

Thank you for your pleasant respite from political discourse, it was much appreciated.
You're welcome! I love interjecting whimsy into the world when I get a chance.
Oh, this was too lovely and imaginative, with language so gentle to be categorized as whimsy. Thank you so much for this beautiful offering.
Ah, but the tomatoes are not all gone. And, for retired educators, you have sympathy for your collogues but no regrets in your earned peace.

Astonishing, Gracie. Lucid, yet whimsical. Profound. Very nicely done.
Thanks, Rob! It's a fun way to mark the passing months, right?
Here's to September, may she treat us kindly and give us plenty of blessings!
Amen!
Best Wishes for a month of beautiful surprises!
Thank you, Bruce! I'll pay attention and look for those good surprises.
My favorite flower.
Such a cheerful flower, yes?
Yes, they are. I wrote an ode to them and posted it on my Substack:
